Photographs taken with 35mm film that are scanned and shared on the internet have small blemishes, traces, indexes of the way that light interacts with the film object. These are things like lens flares, dust, grain, water marks. These traces in recent photographic trends have become signs of a style, an emergent digital photography style that employs these elements as collage elements to modify digital photographs to mimic film. VSCO film filters, grain pattern overlays, light leak and lens flare stickers can now be employed in ways that create completely new images.

The images in this series speak to this photographic development. I am to explore the visual phenomena when the indexes of photography are detached from any real photographic context. These digital collages are *post film* images.

in contemporary photography we are at a new stage of the development of visual media.

from around the turn of the 21st century film photography began its slow return into popular imagination, cite early film photography work. and its return was not to become part of what photography was but rather to define a new visual style and category as "film photography".

The advent of the digital created a clear distinction between these two forms (hito steyerl) film invokes a form of authenticity and grungy "aesthetic" in the minds of those who are championing its return. Most who can barely remember the time before digital photography was infinite.
